There are only two types of seadragons in the world, and both are found in Australian coastal waters. Seadragons are graceful, slow-moving fish identified by leaf-like appendages that provide camouflage among the seaweed where they feed. Although related to seahorses, seadragons are larger, reaching up to 18 inches (45cm) in length. Unlike seahorses, male seadragons have no pouch for rearing their young, but incubate about 250 eggs under their tails. In addition to their elaborate ‘leaves,’ seadragons have flattened bodies and tails that are unable to coil and grab objects the way seahorses do. Seadragons are included on the IUCN Red List as'near threatened'. Learn more about seadragons at: https://www.projectseahorse.org/blog/tag/seadragons
