Original artwork © 2014 Samara E. King & TwoBee, LLC rendered in color pencil for the American Museum of Natural History.

Henry Fairfield Osborn, of the American Museum of Natural History in New York City, was the first to describe Tyrannosaurus rex in 1905. The name Tyrannosaurus rex (T-Rex) means ‘Tyrant Lizard King’. T-Rex had very large teeth the size of bananas, very tiny arms and was one of the largest land carnivores of all time. This enormous dinosaur grew up to forty-eight feet in length: about as large as a New York Interborough Rapid Transit subway car - or a humpback whale! Learn more about this amazing dinosaur at: https://www.amnh.org/dinosaurs/tyrannosaurus-rex
