There are more than 5,000 known species of dragonflies and are beautiful to watch in home gardens or in the wild. They are efficient hunters with good eyesight with eyes that cover most of the surface of their head. Dragonflies are expert fliers, with speeds up to 35 miles per hour, and can fly straight up and down as well as hover like a helicopter. The flight of the dragonfly has inspired engineers to create robots that imitate the mechanics of their flight. Learn more about dragonflies at: https://worlddragonfly.org
