The Knobby Seahorse (Hippocampus brevicepsis) is a small, well-camouflaged seahorse that lives only in tropical Western Australia and may be found floating amongst sargassum algae or attached to sponges. Seahorses propel themselves by using a small fin on their back that flutters up to 35 times per second. The biggest threat facing the knobby seahorse is increasing development and population pressure in coastal waters compromising their shore habitat.
